Sound Bars for Surround Sound Feel

So you want surround sound but you do not want all of the fuss or it is next to impossible to run the wires to the back of the home theater room. I think you may be a candidate for a sound bar! There are many as the sound bar is becoming quite the thing for an easy surround sound solution. I have installed and listened to many sound bars and recently the demand for the sound bar has increased dramatically.

Mirage Uni-Theater LCR Sound Bar

There are a few LCR (left, right center) sound bars that I think are a real value.  First the Mirage Uni-Theater LCR speaker is a very well constructed and great looking sound bar.  The Uni-Theater houses three Titanium Dome Tweeters, three Passive Radiators and three, three inch woofer.  All enclosed in a brushed aluminum black or silver cabinet.  You may mount the sound bar on the wall or use the included very attractive looking glass stand and with the three binding posts on the back for easily terminating your speaker wires.

The sound quality and ability to simulate three separate speakers is amazing. The performance was good covering 80Hz up thru 20KHz just like a normal book shelf speaker system.  The addition of a sub woofer and some rear speakers is certainly necessary to complete the system.

This sound bar is a quality product and is a great performer as well.  I would recommend this product to anyone looking to save some space and still get high quality audio.

Atlantic Technology’s FS-7.0 Surround Sound Bar

The next is a new product that I had the chance to audition a few weeks ago from Atlantic Technology.  The Atlantic Technology FS-7.0, seven channel surround sound bar.  Leave it to Atlantic to come up with an interesting twist here. There is a lot going on in this great looking speaker that will handle all seven channels of surround giving the listener a true surround sound feel.  The two front drivers are dual voice coil and take care of the left, right front and center sound.  This array allows Atlantic to keep the cabinet size down to only 40 inches. The surround speakers are triple vice coil for a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system.  The speakers are aligned in the cabinet as to create a true surround feel without any electronics to color the audio. You may mount it on the wall or sit it directly in front of your panel.  Read more about the FS7.1 at the Atlantic Technology web site.

I was amazed!  The speaker created a true surround feel from one speaker. The audio was crystal clear and the creation of the surround back speakers was a surprise.  We listened to a 5.1 system and it was impressive. Even in the 5.1 mode all of the speakers were functioning.  Once again the addition of a sub woofer is highly recommended.  Atlantic suggests their SB-800 to complete the system.

Both the Atlantic Technology and Mirage speakers will require a decent surround sound receiver with a sub out for a true surround sound system.  Both are excellent products that we are happy to offer.

Denon FS3 Sound Bar

The Denon DHT-FS3 sound bar system.  This is quite different from the Atlantic and Mirage sound bars. Denon’s FS3 is a powered sound bar with “X-Space Surround” and deliver an almost true to life surround feel.  All of the audio is digitally processed in the bar.  The bar has the ability to take two optical audio inputs, one digital coax audio input and an analog audio input, allowing you to use the bar for four different sources. There is no need for a surround sound receiver.

The FS3 comes with its own sub woofer so no need to shop for that as this sub is designed for the system.

The FS3 has a dedicated remote so you can control the volume and change the input remotely. The FS3 sound bar houses 6 speaker that handle front and read left and right and also the center channel.  The sound bar is also wall mountable or may sit directly on a stand with the enclosed feet.  Either way this is a great little performer.

The FS3 is a truly amazing sound bar.  We have sold many FS3’s and have never had a disappointed customer.  Although the FS3 will cost a bit more I do believe that it is worth every penny.

What would people recommend for a smaller room, maybe a bed room or a dorm room?

I know i do not have the room required for a big home theater and a smaller sound bar that would deliver big sound in a small space would be perfect?

I did manage to find some additional content at www.SoundBarHQ.com which provided a large list of Sound bars provided by Amazon and i was wondering what other people felt?

I would recommend looking at the Polk Audio SURBAR3000IHT. I provides big sound for small rooms and would be perfect for a smaller room and is listed at a great price. We also sell it if you are interested in pricing.
